Would you rather idea

We decided to move forward with the would you rather piece, so we created this plot of a girl needing money so she is invited to a game night to try and win the money she needs.We thought each character could have really different personas and arranged the there will be:

Host: Kai
Romantic one: Toby (so he can play a role different to what he has played before)
Evil Bitch: Freya (because she played Judy in Curious incident and Alice in Alice in Wonderland so this will be different)
Quiet one/winner: Meg
Scared one: Me
Lazy one: Dom
Nice one: Ashley

We also started to create an opening of us sitting down to dinner and start up a conversation, so we can establish the characters for the audience. We weren't very good at improvising a conversation and at one point Mrs came in and asked if were weren't just recreating the movie and unanimously we all agreed that we actually were plagiarizing the movie and that we need to come up with something else.

Research and Development of Our Idea

We have done some research on the movie 'Would You Rather?', information about the plot of the movie and where the idea came from and also other movies which are similar but we didn't find much. I also researched more about our stimulus 'Chasing Pavements' I found the lyrics of the song (a link to my post with them here) and lyrics to the Adele's' other songs (someone like you, rumor has it and rolling in deep) Just in case we need some more inspiration from the artist.

Initial ideas

The way we thought up ideas was by taking the title 'chasing pavements' and think what could come from it. We seemed to anonamously agree that chasing ment we are trying to get something, then I thought pavements could be a code word for drugs and we could create a performance about the desperation to get drugs or something. But since most of the group is in double drama and in double we are all ready creating a performance about drugs and therefor we didn't want to do two similar shows at the same time so we moved on.

We also looked for inspiration in the music video, which involved a car crash. So we had segestions of people dying in a car crash then performing what happened befor and after the incident. For me, for some reason I didn't think of a good piece to create around that concept, ideas didn't spring to me but we ended up not doing it anyway.

We also looked at the performer of the song, we took note that Adele is curvy and we thought we could create a piece about an overweight character who I chasing here dream while fighting hardship for being overweight. However we then realised we were taking inspiration from her curves and we didn't feel good about that, also looking back that sounds like the plot of most chick flick movies, so we didn't do that either.

In the end we used the idea of chasing to get the consept of desperation for something, then that led to money and it reminded me and someone eles in the group of a film 'would you rather' so we thought we could create an entire performance around that.
